OUR TEAM

Meet Yvonne Visser

Always connected to sport, Yvonne has traveled many paths. The sport of biathlon was her chosen passion and Yvonne was a National Team member for 12 years, including two Olympic Winter Games. Her commitment to improving her abilities through hard work and dedication as an elite athlete, combined with strong values and impressive skills, has served her well in her professional endeavors.

Living in Canmore, Yvonne enjoyed coaching youth in biathlon and supporting the active community while working in the field of massage therapy. She currently resides in Nanaimo, BC, and continues to be highly involved in her community in many ways, both professionally and athletically.

Yvonne graduated in 1996 from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Physical Education, and then obtained certification as a Massage Therapist in Alberta and Certification Candidate in Sport Massage. Combined with her experience in the ranks as a former elite athlete, it is no wonder that Yvonne makes an excellent support person for many athletic teams.

Her strong skill set, professional attitude, and expansive experience has opened many paths in her professional career.  From bobsleigh/skeleton and biathlon to track and field, Yvonne has been a team Massage Therapist at Pan Am Junior Games, World Cups, World Championships and Olympic Medical teams.  She was in Torino, Italy in 2006 with the Canadian Medical Team, in Beijing in 2008, in London, England in 2012 with the Para Track and Field Team, and in Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 with Biathlon, and with the 2018 Korea Olympics.

If someone were to describe Yvonne, the words would be: commitment and passion for the work that she loves and the athletes of Canada.
